From the training work of 22zero.org in February with Dan Jarvis and Nick Davis, we are now offering FREE Resiliency sessions, incorporating TRP and EMP.
Sessions are more like guided, interactive meditation. This process helps us go right to the source of what you want to address and in a manner that avoids overwhelm. Participants do not receive diagnosis, treatment planning, or insurance reimbursement. Consulting is contingent upon you being mentally and behaviorally stable enough to not need more formal mental health treatment. But when negative emotions become extreme, intrusive, and relentless, they can damage our brains and lead to an unhealthy, unsustainable life.
That’s why, rather than exploring negative emotions or traumatic memories through talk therapy, we work on eliminating negative emotions attached to traumatic or significant emotional events with a guided mindfulness exercise at the root cause.
We’ve discovered a more effective, more enduring way to heal emotional and mental scars. By leveraging two researched and tested approaches that target Traumatic Stress (Trauma Resiliency Protocol, or TRP) and extreme negative emotions like anxiousness, grief, anger, and guilt (Emotions Management Process, or EMP), we give you the resiliency skills you need to heal from past and present traumatic stress for good.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You’re awake and in control during the processes, and you aren’t allowed to talk about traumatic memories you picture your experience from a dissociated view as we lead you through a guided mindfulness exercise with a powerful release of emotions.
Our coaches guide you through TRP, which uses visual dissociation to change the state of your emotions, not the memories, leading you to emotional restoration. They are administered virtually or in person and designed to help you heal, not just cope so whether you struggle with childhood traumatic emotions, a car crash, anxiousness, test anxiety, or sadness, we’re here to help you set yourself free.
You are driving the car; we are just holding the map!
WHAT IS TRP?
The Trauma Resiliency Protocol is a novel non-clinical intervention for treating traumatic emotions centering around fear, terror, and helplessness. The protocol is rooted in visual dissociation, a dissociation technique that is healthy and beneficial. It allows the amygdala to release the death grip on the emotion, leading to memory reconsolidation. The intervention can take place hours after a traumatic experience or years later. The number of traumatic experiences does not matter; each can be tackled individually or in larger chunks. The patterns of behavior established by traumatic stress changes, sleep restores, and triggers vaporize, and the full human potential becomes quickly apparent as a new strong, emotionally intelligent client arises.
WHAT IS EMP?
The Emotions Management Process is a novel yet simple non-clinical intervention for unhealthy negative emotions. EMP is rooted in dissociation, different from TRP in the application, and has additional features around reframing. We located an emotional trigger, for example, guilt, activate the trigger, then dissociate. We allow the client to make sense of the event using specific language patterns that allow the neural pathway to separate. The behavior pattern changes subconsciously, and a new emotionally intelligent client arises.

Check out "Awaken is..." by Ryan McCarthy - YouTube to view our partnership with Awaken Pittsburgh. We are committed to providing service delivery of their Mindful Connections program for first responders from several of our licensed clinical staff.
"We call on (public safety professionals) every day to respond to emergencies and sustain our health and safety. These are difficult, often thankless jobs. They require a willingness to face tough situations with expertise and composure, frequently while in harm’s way. ... Because you need to be effective and serve safely, taking care of yourself is critical." https://www.nami.org/Your-Journey/Frontline-Professionals/Public-Safety-Professionals
First responders protect our communities. It is difficult to imagine what it takes to show up to a job where you often see people on their worst days and are continuously exposed to trauma, death and violence. These community members need our help and support so they may identify and recognize the need for supportive mental health treatment and community engagement.
The majority of first responders (85 per cent) have experienced symptoms related to mental health issues. *Survey/University of Phoenix 2017
37% of Fire and EMS professionals have contemplated suicide *SAMHSA
Only 40-45% of firefighter suicides are reported (FBHA)
Veteran suicide rates are at the highest level in recorded history, with annual deaths by suicide at over 6,000 veterans per year. *National Library of Medicine
How we can help:
We have four therapists on staff with specialized training in trauma, first responders, and couples’ therapy. We recognize the high rate of suicide among this population, and we prioritize mental wellness and self-care and how working in high stress environments can create barriers professionally and interpersonally and how these affect relationships We are able to tailor sessions to meet the unique needs for this populations and their loved ones. Together with Awaken Pittsburgh, we offer a Mindful Connections Program.

The FATAL 10 Self-Assessment by Dr. Olivia Johnson & Dr. Jorey Krawczyn is a short, confidential personal assessment used to address potential risk for negative outcomes. The assessment looks at positive and negative aspects and lifestyle choices and provides survey takers with an overall analysis (low/moderate/high risk) of the findings.

Just because you have scored "low" on the Fatal 10 Self-Assessment, does not mean that you are done with monitoring and correcting mental and physical health issues, especially as a first responder.
The substance for healthy development and functioning are specified using the concept of basic psychological needs for relationships and purpose. To the extent that these needs are constantly satisfied, people will develop and function effectively and experience physical health and mental wellness. Now that you are aware of your current risk factors and future barriers or issues, it is suggested that you work to monitor these issues on a weekly or monthly basis. If you notice any change that indicates negative risk, properly evaluate it, and if necessary, seek professional assistance.
